Music Row Duplex

Nashville, Tennessee
Designed: 2007
Unbuilt

A developer had purchased a house just off of Music Row in Nashville that had fallen into disrepair. It was originally a single story duplex that had been gutted by fire. However, the brick exterior was still intact. He came to me to design a modern yet simple duplex that utilized the existing brick and added a second story above. He wanted to use a flat roof to stay similar to the building's original height.

The main feature of the design is the roof that turns down in the middle creating a sense of separation. The roof fascia and eaves are covered in a reflective metal while the rest of the building is clad in concrete siding. Mitered corner windows open up the upstairs rooms.
