This was my own house that I lived in and worked on over
the course of almost three years.
I started out by gutting the bathroom. The layout of the
tub, sink and toilet was very tight so I designed a cantilevered
concrete countertop to open up the space that would normally
have a cabinet. I was able to build in a full height linen
closet next to the toilet for extra storage which was important
in such a small home. Because the bathroom was small, I installed
a large mirror behind the sink to give the feeling of openness.
The second phase was a complete gutting and remodel of the
kitchen. I designed and built all of the cabinets by hand
with stained glass inserts. I also poured my own concrete
countertops to go on top.
The final phase was to design and build a new garage door.
