Lake Barkley, Kentucky
Designed: 1998
Unbuilt
This house was designed for a specific site overlooking
Lake Barkley in Kentucky. The requirements of the project
were to design a home around 600 square feet for a retired
client who is single. I used the idea of a studio apartment
with all open space. The only interior door is to the bathroom.
The kitchen and bedroom are pushed to the back for added
privacy while the front room is a large open space with
high ceilings to enjoy the views. Large overhangs help
protect the glass from too much sunlight. A large deck
with the same flooring material as inside extends the perception
of the living area and blurs the line of inside/outside
space.
